I am currently 25 years old however I'll be yet another year older in January. The plan was for all three of us to make this adventurous trip however I'm having to withdraw. I have decided to accept an amazing opportunity of working for the Santa Barbara County Fire Department which makes it impossible for me to make the journey. I am, and will continue to be, heavily involved in the administrative aspects of the trip but instead of peddling, I'll be staying behind. My goal is still the same, make some money for the widows and children that face each day with someone missing in their family.

I am a 24 year-old firefighter currently working for the United States Forest Service Stanislaus Hotshots. I grew up in Arroyo Grande, California, where I graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo majoring in Business Administration. However, I found firefighting about 5 years ago and decided to make it my career rather than business. Next year I hope to become a smokejumper for either the Forest Service or BLM. This has been a dream of mine since I became involved with fire and something I want to accomplish before I ultimately "settle" down with a city or county fire job.

The September 11th tragedy took the lives of many Americans and among them many firefighters. Like many others I have experienced many emotions resulting from this tragedy including sadness, anger and hope. It is the later of these three emotions that my friends and I are riding our bicycles across America for. Although no amount of money can bring back the loved ones lost to the tragedy, hopefully the contributions we gather will in some way provide the families left behind with atleast financial stability. Hopefully the effort we put forth in making this journey will serve as inspiration and hope for our fellow Americans as we overcome this event.
